Zuoz Resort Overview

Located in the heart of the Engadine Valley, Zuoz is a charming, traditional Swiss village that holds a special place in the hearts of those who’ve had the privilege of visiting. Sitting at an altitude of 1,720m, the village is home to an array of beautiful, historic buildings and provides access to a range of winter sports activities, including a ski area with 30km of skiable terrain.

Despite its historic appeal, Zuoz is also home to a range of modern, comfortable accommodations, from luxury hotels to cosy chalets. The ski season typically runs from December through to April, with the village transforming into a winter wonderland.

Skiing in Zuoz

Zuoz offers a unique skiing experience, with 30km of pisted terrain for skiers to enjoy. The resort is served by five lifts, which take skiers up to the summit at 2,323m. The compact nature of the ski area makes it an excellent choice for families and those looking for a relaxing ski holiday.

Beginners will find a number of gentle slopes to familiarise themselves with the sport, while more experienced skiers can test their skills on the resort’s red and black runs. For those who like to venture off-piste, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding area. Freeriders can also tackle the challenging terrain of the Corviglia snowpark in nearby St. Moritz.

Is Zuoz Family-friendly?

With its safe, pedestrianised centre and an array of family-friendly amenities, Zuoz makes for an ideal family ski  destination. The village offers several ski-in-ski-out accommodations, adding an extra layer of convenience to your holiday. Furthermore, the resort offers discounted lift passes for children, making it an affordable choice for families.

Zuoz also has numerous off-slope activities for families to enjoy, including winter hiking trails, cross-country skiing and ice skating. For a truly memorable experience, families can embark on a magical horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snowy landscape.

Après-Ski Scene in Zuoz

After a day on the slopes, Zuoz offers a relaxed and cosy après-ski scene. While it may not have the lively nightlife of larger resorts, it does have a selection of pleasant bars and cafés where you can unwind and enjoy a drink or two.

The Hotel Castell is one such venue, boasting spectacular panoramic views and a welcoming atmosphere. The hotel’s bar is a popular choice for après-ski drinks, thanks to its extensive wine list and delicious cocktails. For a more traditional experience, head to the Chesa Grischuna, a charming inn with a cosy bar serving local beers and spirits.

Dining in Zuoz

Zuoz offers a delightful dining experience with a variety of restaurants serving both local and international cuisine. Hotel Engiadina is a great place to start, offering a menu featuring local Engadine specialities. For a taste of Italy, head to the Pizzeria Dorta, which serves delightful pizzas and other Italian dishes.

For a truly exceptional dining experience, visit the Michelin-starred La Stüva restaurant at the Hotel Castell. Here, you can indulge in gourmet dishes while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

How to Get to Zuoz

Zuoz is easily accessible by air, with three airports located within a three-hour drive of the resort. The closest is Innsbruck Airport, located just over two hours away. Other options include Zurich Airport and Milan Malpensa, both approximately three hours away.

Zuoz is also well-served by rail, with regular train services connecting the resort to other major cities in Switzerland. If you’re driving, you’ll find ample parking available in the village.
