Serre Chevalier Resort Overview

Serre Chevalier, located in the southern French Alps, is a hidden gem of a resort waiting to be discovered. Located at an altitude of 1,400m, the highest lift takes you up to an impressive 2,800m. The resort is spread across four main villages: Briançon, Chantemerle, Villeneuve and Le Monêtier-les-Bains, each offering its own unique charm and character.

Serre Chevalier offers an impressive 250km of pisted terrain, catering to all levels of skiers. Beginners can take advantage of the numerous green and blue runs, while intermediates and advanced skiers can explore the extensive network of red and black pistes.

The resort is particularly known for its long, wide runs and beautiful tree-lined slopes. For those looking for a challenge, the Luc Alphand black run, named after the famous French skier and local hero, is a must. This challenging slope takes you from the top of the mountain down to Chantemerle village.

Freestylers are also catered for in Serre Chevalier with the snowpark, located in the Villeneuve area, offering a variety of jumps, rails and boxes.

Serre Chevalier has a relaxed and friendly après ski scene. Each of the four main villages has a selection of bars and restaurants where you can unwind after a day on the slopes. For a lively atmosphere, head to Grotte Yeti in Villeneuve or Loco Loco in Monêtier. If you’re after something more chilled, try the cosy Le Kawa or Le Frog in Briançon.

There are plenty of dining options in Serre Chevalier, whether you’re looking for a quick snack on the slopes or a gourmet meal. La Marotte in Villeneuve offers a delicious menu of local specialities, while Le Péché Gourmand in Briançon is renowned for its fine dining. For a memorable mountain lunch, try Le Chalet de Serre Ratier, located at the top of the Chantemerle cable car.

How to Get to Serre Chevalier

The three nearest airports to Serre Chevalier are Turin (1h 45m), Grenoble (2h) and Lyon (3h). From the airport, you can reach the resort by car or by airport transfer. If you prefer to travel by train, the nearest station is Briançon, which is well connected to major cities in France and Italy.
