Sauze d`Oulx, perched at an altitude of 1,509m, is an enchanting Italian ski resort located in the heart of the Milky Way ski area. The highest ski lift in the resort ascends to an impressive 2,650m. With over 400km of skiable terrain on offer, Sauze d`Oulx is a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. 

The historic town centre, once a 19th-century spa resort, is now home to a myriad of accommodation options. From luxury hotels to self-catered apartments and cosy chalets, there’s something to suit every taste and budget. The ski season in Sauze d`Oulx usually runs from early December through to mid-April, offering a reliable snow record and excellent ski conditions.

Skiing in Sauze d`Oulx

Sauze d`Oulx offers an impressive 100km of pisted terrain within the resort, with a further 300km accessible within the Milky Way ski area. The resort caters brilliantly to all abilities, from beginners to advanced skiers and snowboarders. 

For beginners, the resort provides a number of gentle nursery slopes and easy green runs around the Sportinia area. Once you’ve mastered the basics, you can progress onto the wider, more challenging blue runs that meander through the trees down to the village. 

Intermediate skiers will find a wealth of red runs to explore, with some of the best terrain located around the Moncrons area. Advanced skiers can challenge themselves on the black runs at the top of the Fraiteve Gondola, or head over to nearby Sestriere for even steeper slopes.

The Milky Way ski pass offers access to a vast network of slopes spread across neighbouring resorts. And for those who love to venture off-piste, Sauze d`Oulx boasts some outstanding tree skiing and hidden powder stashes.

Sauze d`Oulx is a fantastic choice for families. The resort offers a range of family-friendly accommodation, many of which offer convenient ski-in-ski-out access. The pedestrianised town centre is safe and easy to navigate, and you’ll find a host of amenities including supermarkets, shops and a cinema.

The après ski scene in Sauze d`Oulx is lively and vibrant, offering a mix of traditional Italian bars, British pubs, and trendy cocktail lounges. The Bandito is a popular spot for post-ski drinks and live music, while the Derby Bar is famed for its vibrant atmosphere and party vibes. For a quieter evening, head to the Wine Bar for a relaxed glass of vino, or to Ghost for a sophisticated cocktail.

Sauze d`Oulx offers a delightful culinary scene with a variety of restaurants serving both local and international cuisine. For a taste of traditional Italian fare, head to Ristorante Del Falco or La Griglia. For something a bit more contemporary, Osteria Il Capricorno offers a modern twist on classic Italian dishes. 

How to Get to Sauze d`Oulx 

The quickest way to get to Sauze d`Oulx from the UK is to fly into Turin Airport, which is just a 1h30m transfer from the resort. Other nearby airports include Cuneo Levaldigi Airport (2h transfer) and Milan Malpensa Airport (2h30m transfer). If you’re travelling by train, the nearest station is Oulx, just a 10-minute drive from the resort.
