Perched at an elevation of 1,250m with the highest ski lift reaching 2,142m, Roccaraso is located in the heart of Italy’s Apennine mountains. This charming resort is part of the extensive Alto Sangro ski area, providing an impressive 110km of diverse pisted terrain.

For beginners, there are gentle, wide slopes to develop confidence and skills. The Macchione and Pizzalto areas are particularly recommended for those finding their ski-legs.

Intermediate skiers will find Roccaraso a paradise, with a vast range of red runs across the ski area. A must-do is the captivating descent from Monte Pratello to Rivisondoli, offering stunning panoramic views.

Advanced skiers won’t be disappointed either, with a selection of challenging black runs on offer, including the steep Direttissima run. Off-piste skiing enthusiasts will find ample opportunities, especially around the Pizzalto area, to explore and enjoy the natural terrain.

How to Get to Roccaraso

The most convenient way to reach Roccaraso from the UK is by air. The closest airports are Naples (2h), Rome Ciampino (2h 30m) and Rome Fiumicino (2h 45m). From these airports, it is advisable to hire a car or arrange a private transfer. For those who prefer train travel, the nearest station is Sulmona, a 40-minute drive from the resort.
