Les Carroz Resort Overview
Sat at 1,140m in the heart of the Grand Massif ski area, Les Carroz is a charming and authentic French ski resort. The skiable terrain stretches from 700m to 2,500m, including five interconnected resorts, making it one of the largest ski areas in the French Alps.
Founded in the 1930s, Les Carroz is one of the oldest ski resorts in France. With its traditional alpine architecture and beautiful scenery, Les Carroz offers a wide range of accommodation from cosy chalets to luxury apartments and hotels, many of which are ski-in-ski-out. The ski season in Les Carroz usually runs from mid-December to mid-April.
Skiing in Les Carroz
Les Carroz is an integral part of the Grand Massif ski area, which boasts 265km of pisted terrain. The resort caters to all levels of skiers with a variety of lift pass options, including a Grand Massif pass that provides access to the entire ski area.
For beginners skiers, Les Carroz offers a number of gentle, wide slopes perfect for learning the ropes. The resort also offers a variety of blue and red runs for intermediate skiers looking to improve their skills.
Advanced skiers can take on the challenging black runs on the Tête des Saix and the Diamond Noir, the longest black run in the Grand Massif, as well as some excellent off-piste opportunities.
Freestyle skiers and snowboarders aren’t forgotten either, with the Jam Park offering a variety of jumps, rails and a snowcross course.

Les Carroz offers a more relaxed après-ski scene compared to some of the larger French resorts. However, there are still plenty of places to unwind after a day on the slopes. Le Marlow, with its cosy atmosphere and live music, is a popular choice, while the Igloo Chalet Club is a must-visit for its unique ice bar and lively atmosphere.
Dining in Les Carroz
Les Carroz offers a great selection of dining options both on and off the slopes. La Spatule is a popular choice for its Savoyard specialities and cosy atmosphere. For something a little more upscale, Le Grenier Savoyard offers a gourmet menu featuring local ingredients.
On the mountain, Le K offers a sunny terrace and a fantastic view of the slopes, while the L’Anfionne restaurant at the top of the Kédeuze gondola is a great spot for a quick lunch while enjoying the panoramic views.
How to Get to Les Carroz
The quickest way to get to Les Carroz from the UK is by flying to Geneva Airport, which is just a 1-hour transfer from the resort. Other nearby airports include Chambery (1h30m), Lyon-Saint Exupéry (2h) and Grenoble (2h30m). If you are travelling by train, the nearest station is Cluses, a 20-minute transfer away.
