Kitzbühel Resort Overview

Located in the Kitzbühel Alps of Austria, the resort town of Kitzbühel is renowned for its charm, elegance and world-class skiing. Skiing in Kitzbühel

Kitzbühel is a paradise for skiers of all levels. The resort offers three types of lift passes, granting access to different areas of the expansive mountain terrain. The beginner’s pass provides access to gentle slopes and 54 lifts, ideal for those new to the sport. The Kitzbühel-only pass covers the 57 lifts in Kitzbühel and over 120km of pistes, while the full Kitzbühel Alps AllStarCard offers access to all nine ski areas in the Kitzbühel Alps, boasting a total of 215km of pisted terrain.

For beginners, the Kitzbüheler Horn area offers a variety of gentle slopes, while intermediate skiers can explore a wealth of red and blue runs spread across the resort. Advanced skiers can tackle the world-famous Streif, one of the most challenging downhill courses in the world, or explore the extensive off-piste terrain.

The Bichlalm area is also an excellent spot for off-piste skiing, offering a free-ride area with deep snow slopes and open terrain. The Kitzbühel snow park, located on the Kitzbüheler Horn, is a playground for freestyle skiers and snowboarders, with a range of jumps, boxes and rails.

Is Kitzbühel Family-friendly?

Kitzbühel is a fantastic ski resort for families, with a wealth of activities and facilities for children. The pedestrianised centre is safe and easy to navigate and many accommodation options offer ski-in-ski-out convenience. There are dedicated beginner areas and children’s ski zones, plus plenty of non-ski activities, such as tobogganing, ice skating and swimming at the Aquarena complex.

Kitzbühel offers a vibrant après-ski scene, with a range of bars and clubs where you can enjoy a lively party atmosphere. The Londoner is a well-known spot for its raucous parties during the Hahnenkamm race weekend, while Club Take Five offers a more sophisticated setting for late-night dancing. For a more relaxed evening, try a local brew at the Huber Bräu Stüberl, or enjoy live music at the Streifalm.

How to Get to Kitzbühel 

The quickest way to get to Kitzbühel from the UK is to fly into one of the three closest airports: Munich, Salzburg, or Innsbruck. From Munich, Kitzbühel is approximately a 2-hour drive, while from Salzburg and Innsbruck, the resort is just an hour away by car. Trains also regularly run from these cities to Kitzbühel station, located conveniently in the town centre.
