Baqueira-Beret Resort Overview

Located in the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees, Baqueira-Beret is one of Spain’s premier ski resorts, spanning three different areas: Baqueira, Beret, and Bonaigua. The resort is perched at an altitude of 1,500m, with the highest ski lift reaching an impressive 2,610m. 

Baqueira-Beret is renowned for its luxury accommodation, including a range of high-end hotels, chalets and apartments, all offering convenient ski-in-ski-out options. With its reliable snowfall and season typically running from late November to early April, it’s a popular choice for a snow-sure skiing holiday.

Skiing in Baqueira-Beret

Baqueira-Beret offers an impressive 160km of pisted terrain, making it the largest winter resort in Spain. The resort is divided into three main areas, each with its unique appeal and challenges, catering to all levels of skiers. 

Beginners will find plenty of easy slopes around the Beret area, with wide, gentle runs perfect for practising turns. For the intermediates, Baqueira offers an array of red runs with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. A favourite among many is the Luis Arias red run, a beautiful, lengthy descent that takes you right back to the resort.

For advanced skiers, the Bonaigua area offers some thrilling black runs, including the challenging Manaud. For those in search of off-piste skiing, there are numerous options to explore, with the Escornacrabes run, known as ‘the vultures’ cornice’, being a standout for its steep, thrilling descent.

Is Baqueira-Beret Family-friendly?

Baqueira-Beret is an excellent ski resort for families, boasting a range of family-friendly accommodation, from luxury chalets to self-catered apartments. The resort offers a variety of child-friendly activities, including tobogganing, dog sledding and snowshoeing. 

Après-Ski Scene in Baqueira-Beret

Despite its reputation as a quiet, low-key resort, Baqueira-Beret has a surprisingly vibrant après-ski scene. From cosy mountain huts to sophisticated wine bars, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. 

Tuc Nere is a popular spot, known for its live music and upbeat atmosphere, while Tiffany’s offers a more relaxed setting for a post-ski cocktail. For a late-night party, head to Pacha, where you can dance the night away to the sounds of local DJs.

Dining in Baqueira-Beret

Baqueira-Beret offers a diverse range of dining options. For a memorable mountain lunch, head to Refugi San Miguel, located at the top of the Baqueira gondola, known for its fantastic views and delicious tapas. 

In the resort, Restaurant Del Gel al Foc offers a gourmet dining experience with a menu that blends local ingredients with international flavours. For a taste of traditional Catalan cuisine, try Restaurant 5 Jotas, known for its excellent selection of Iberian ham.

How to Get to Baqueira-Beret

The three closest airports to Baqueira-Beret are Lleida-Alguaire (2h30m transfer), Toulouse (2h30m), and Zaragoza (3h). If you choose to drive, there is ample parking available at the resort and many accommodations offer a shuttle service to and from the slopes.
