Another season has come to an end and let us tell you it was quite a good one. Despite the bumpy start with various restrictions in different countries, it quickly became evident that nothing was going to stop you from going out to the mountains. It was incredible seeing our customers and the independent instructors being so excited to finally be back on the slopes and, if it’s even possible, we were even more excited about being part of making this happen. Having officially closed the 21/22 season here at Maison Sport we are giving you an insight into this year’s ski season. Take a peek behind the scenes and start getting excited about Ski Season 22/23.

It has been a busy winter for the independent instructors on Maison Sport, if you’re wondering just how busy…32,100 hours of busy. That’s right, over 32,000 hours of lessons were delivered all across Europe by over 400 independent instructors. All of these hours taught add up to more or less 10,000 lessons, simply incredible! We personally know that all the instructors that use the Maison Sport platform are incredible at what they do, we don’t doubt it, but it’s through the reviews left by all of you that other customers can understand how amazing the lessons are. Every customer that completes a lesson is invited to leave a review and this season over 60% of the lessons have been reviewed so far, 93% of which were reviewed with 5 stars!

Let’s move on to destinations. Although the Maison Sport instructors are present all across Europe, you clearly have a few favourite destinations when it comes to your family holiday. It’s no surprise that the country where most of the lessons were held was France, in fact about 7,000 lessons were taught there. In second place we have Italy with over 1000 lessons, third place Switzerland with almost 800 lessons, and Austria in fourth place with a little over 200 lessons. Other countries where a few lessons were held but which we’re sure will be more popular next season were Spain, Slovenia, Germany, and Finland. So if you’re looking for a new destination for your next ski holiday consider one of those.

Are you looking for a resort where you’re most likely to run into someone you know? Or do you want to avoid crowded places? Whatever you are booking for, out of the 120 resorts where our customers went, these were the top 12:

  1. Chamonix

  2. Val d’Isere

  3. Val Thorens

  4. Tignes

  5. Courchevel

  6. Morzine

  7. Zermatt

  8. Meribel

  9. Megeve

  10. Avoriaz

  11. Courmayeur

  12. Cervinia

Lastly, let’s talk about the disciplines of choice. Last year during the pandemic we introduced 3 new disciplines which didn’t require the use of lifts, ski touring, telemark, and cross-country skiing. This year we introduced 5 new disciplines, first of all off-piste skiing and off-piste snowboarding, but most importantly we are very proud to have introduced 4 adaptive disciplines to make sure anyone and everyone can partake in the sport that we all love so much; sit ski, visually impaired, adaptive snowboarding, and three track skiing. Nevertheless, the most popular discipline for this winter was skiing, in fact, more than 7,600 lessons were skiing lessons. Maybe next year you’ll want to learn a new discipline and cross-country skiing will take home the prize, who knows.

These were some of the highlights of our winter season 21/22 here at Maison Sport. We want to thank all of you who were part of making this happen, both customers and instructors and we love to have you along in this amazing journey. Keep an eye out for our newsletters as we will be announcing more exciting news throughout the summer. Will it be a new discipline? Or maybe more destinations? You’ll have to wait and see!

If you’re ready to book your lessons for next season you absolutely can as many instructors have already updated their calendars and are ready to take some bookings.
