Sansicario is a charming and picturesque resort located in the Italian Alps. Sitting at a height of 1,700m, it forms an essential part of the Milky Way ski area. With 400km of skiable terrain, the resort is known for its outstanding snow quality and diverse skiing options. The resort’s pistes reach up to 2,800m, offering breathtaking views of the Susa Valley.

Sansicario Ski Area

The Sansicario ski area is divided into two main sections; Sansicario Alto and Sansicario Basso, both directly accessible from the village centre. The ski area is composed of 75 runs, with 25% green, 35% blue, 30% red and 10% black.

Beginner Skiing in Sansicario

Sansicario is an excellent choice for beginners. With a number of dedicated nursery slopes and wide, gentle runs, there’s plenty to explore. The Village nursery slope is a great place to start, followed by the Baby Sansicario lift. Once more confidence is gained, beginners can progress to the Fraiteve and Rio Nero green runs. The resort has a team of exceptional ski instructors who can guide beginners around and help them advance their skiing skills.

Intermediate Skiing in Sansicario

Sansicario is a paradise for intermediate skiers, with an abundance of blue and red runs. The Sansicario Alto area is an excellent starting point for lower-intermediate skiers, with a variety of wide, undulating blues. More advanced skiers should try the Olympic Woman’s Downhill run, a notable course from the 2006 Winter Olympics. Remember to take it easy as the grading system is slightly challenging compared to other resorts.

Advanced Skiing in Sansicario

With a good number of black runs, Sansicario offers a challenging experience for advanced skiers. The most well-known run is the Kandahar Banchetta, a challenging black run with a 60% gradient and a 950m vertical descent. For a more thrilling experience, try the Motta or the Sises areas, both offering steep mogul runs.

Off-piste Skiing in Sansicario

Sansicario offers an array of off-piste skiing opportunities. The areas around Mount Fraiteve and Mount Sises are popular spots for experienced skiers. The Motta area is an off-piste paradise with its long, unmarked descents. Always remember to hire a local guide or instructor when venturing off-piste to ensure your safety. Snowparks in Sansicario

Sansicario is home to one of the most exciting snowparks in the Milky Way ski area. The snowpark offers a variety of obstacles including jumps, boxes and rails, suitable for both beginners and experienced freestyle skiers and snowboarders.
