The resort sits at 1,740m and offers an impressive 100km of skiable terrain, with a variety of runs for all abilities. Obertauern Ski Area

Obertauern’s ski area has a diverse terrain, offering 61 varied runs. The resort is divided into three areas; Gnadenalm, Zehnerkar, and Grünwaldkopf, all easily accessible from the town centre. The ski area consists of 9% green, 45% blue, 37% red, and 9% black runs.

Beginner Skiing in Obertauern

Obertauern’s ski area provides great spaces for beginners. Two main nursery slopes are located in the village and at the top of the Grünwaldkopf gondola. Once you’ve mastered these, you can explore the green runs at the top of the Zehnerkar lift. To build confidence, consider taking the lifts back down the mountain, as the lower altitude runs are more challenging.

Intermediate Skiing in Obertauern

Obertauern is a great choice for intermediate skiers. With lots of blue and red runs, the resort provides ample opportunities to enhance your skills. The Zehnerkar area is recommended for less experienced intermediate skiers. The Plattenkar area, however, offers more challenging runs, including the popular red run, Hundskogel. This run offers a thrilling descent and beautiful panoramic views, making it a must-try for any intermediate skier.

Advanced Skiing in Obertauern

Obertauern is renowned for its advanced skiing opportunities. The Gamsleiten 2 is the most famous black run, known for its steep incline and challenging moguls. The run descends over 350m, providing an exhilarating challenge for experienced skiers. Another notable black run is the Schaidberg Nord, which offers a thrilling descent and a spectacular view of the valley as a reward.

Off-piste Skiing in Obertauern

Obertauern is a paradise for off-piste skiing enthusiasts. Some of the most popular off-piste areas include the Hundskogel and the Zehnerkar. These areas offer challenging slopes and deep powder snow, providing an unforgettable skiing experience. Snowparks in Obertauern

Obertauern is also home to two snowparks – The Spot and KPark Obertauern – offering both beginners and advanced riders a variety of features, including kickers, boxes, and rails. Both parks are equipped with modern lift systems and are groomed daily.
