Kitzbüheler Alpen’s ski area comprises three main areas; Hahnenkamm, Kitzbüheler Horn and Bichlalm, all accessible directly from the resort centre. The ski area consists of 119 runs, consisting of 23% green, 42% blue, 26% red and 9% black.

Beginner Skiing in Kitzbüheler Alpen

Kitzbüheler Alpen offers several nursery slopes and gentle runs suitable for beginners despite its reputation as a resort for intermediate and advanced skiers. The excellent snow conditions are perfect for learners, with two main nursery slopes in the village and at the top of the Hahnenkamm gondola. Once you progress from the nursery slopes, areas like Rasmusleiten and Mocking are perfect for beginners.

With plenty of blue and red runs to explore, intermediate skiers will have a plethora of choices. The Hahnenkamm area is excellent for lower-intermediate skiers with wide, smooth blues. Advanced intermediate skiers should head to the Kitzbüheler Horn and ski down to Jochberg. The famous Streif run is one of the most challenging in the world and offers a thrilling experience for adventurous skiers. There are plenty of challenging blues and reds in Kitzbüheler Alpen, but the grading system leans towards the more challenging end of the scale compared to other resorts in Austria.

Kitzbüheler Alpen has a reputation as an excellent resort for advanced skiers. With almost 10% of runs in the resort being black, there is a wide array of challenging terrains to explore. The most renowned run in Kitzbüheler Alpen is the Hahnenkamm Streif. Known as one of the most challenging downhill courses in the world, it offers a thrilling experience for expert skiers.

Off-piste Skiing in Kitzbüheler Alpen

Kitzbüheler Alpen is a paradise for advanced skiers and offers some of the best lift-served off-piste skiing in Austria. From steep chutes to snowy bowls, there is a significant amount of off-piste terrain to explore. The Bichlalm area is a popular off-piste area for experienced skiers.
