Situated at an altitude of 708m, this resort is part of the Garmisch Classic ski area, offering 40km of skiable terrain and is renowned for its consistent snowfall. Garmisch-Partenkirchen also has the Zugspitze glacier, guaranteeing skiing all year round, and offering breathtaking views over the Bavarian Alps.

With its comprehensive lift system and routes leading to the neighbouring resort of Grainau, there is an abundance of terrain to explore. Ideal for beginner and intermediate skiers, Garmisch-Partenkirchen offers fascinating runs and off-piste skiing, as well as plenty of areas suitable for beginners.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen Ski Area

The ski area in Garmisch-Partenkirchen comprises three main areas; Hausberg, Kreuzeck, and Alpspitze, all directly accessible from the town centre. The ski area consists of 40 runs, with 12% green, 35% blue, 40% red and 13% black.

Beginner Skiing in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Despite its reputation as a resort for intermediate skiers, Garmisch-Partenkirchen has an array of gentle slopes and wide runs suitable for beginners. The excellent snow conditions are great for learners, and there are two main nursery slopes on the Hausberg. Once you advance from the nursery slopes, beginners can explore specially designated areas such as the Eckbauer and the Kreuzeck area.

Intermediate Skiing in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a superb resort for intermediate skiers looking to push their boundaries and improve their skills. With an abundance of blue and red runs to explore, intermediate skiers have a wide variety of options. The Kreuzeck area is a fantastic spot with plenty of wide, rolling blues to glide along. Our favourite run for intermediate skiers is the Kandahar run. This world-famous run is a regular feature in the World Cup and offers a thrilling skiing experience.

Advanced Skiing in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Garmisch-Partenkirchen has a well-deserved reputation as a top resort for advanced skiers. With 13% of its runs being black, there is a variety of challenging terrain to explore. The most renowned run is the Kandahar-Abfahrt, a World Cup downhill course that is considered one of the most demanding in the world. For an even more challenging experience, head to the Zugspitze area. The long, ungroomed descents will undoubtedly get your heart racing!

Off-piste Skiing in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a paradise for advanced skiers and offers some of the best lift-served off-piste skiing in the Alps. From steep chutes to snowy bowls, there is much off-piste terrain to discover.
