Baqueira-Beret is a resort in the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees. With an altitude of 1,471m and a peak at 2,610m, the resort provides a diverse range of skiing opportunities. The resort forms part of the largest ski area in Spain, with 160km of pistes, a snowpark, and lots of off-piste areas to explore. Baqueira-Beret is also renowned for its snow reliability, thanks to the Atlantic climate that brings regular snowfall to the resort.

With a modern lift system, Baqueira-Beret is easily navigable, allowing skiers to make the most of their time on the slopes. The resort caters well to all ability levels, from beginners to advanced skiers.

Baqueira-Beret Ski Area

Baqueira-Beret is divided into three main areas: Baqueira, Beret and Bonaigua, each offering a unique skiing experience. It includes a total of 111 pistes: 6% are green, 29% blue, 35% red, and 30% black.

Beginner Skiing in Baqueira-Beret

Baqueira-Beret is beginner-friendly, with a number of gentle slopes and ski schools available for those new to the sport. The resort provides two nursery slopes located at 1800m in Beret, offering a safe and controlled environment for beginners. As you build confidence, you can explore the green and blue runs that wind through the forest. Some recommended beginner runs include the Ticolet and the Pasarell.

Intermediate Skiing in Baqueira-Beret

Intermediate skiers can enjoy a wide range of blue and red runs in Baqueira-Beret. The Beret area is perfect for intermediates, with a good mix of lengthy, wide runs. The blue run Dera Reina and the red run Bonaigua are particularly enjoyable. For a bit of a challenge, try the Maladeta red run which provides a varied terrain and stunning views.

Advanced Skiing in Baqueira-Beret

Advanced skiers can take on a variety of challenging black runs in Baqueira-Beret. The infamous Luis Arias run, named after a famous Spanish skier, is a must-try and includes a steep 1,000m vertical drop. Another exhilarating run is Escornacrabes (which translates to ‘where goats tumble’), offering a steep and narrow descent that will test even the most seasoned skiers.

Off-piste Skiing in Baqueira-Beret

Baqueira-Beret is renowned for its off-piste opportunities, especially in the Bonaigua area. The Cap de Baqueira offers numerous off-piste routes that descend from the summit down to the main resort. The famous Escornacrabes route also provides an off-piste option for the more adventurous skiers. However, if you are new to off-piste skiing, it is advisable to hire a local guide who can ensure your safety and help you to find the best routes.

The snowpark in Baqueira-Beret, located in the Beret area, is a haven for freestyle enthusiasts. The park includes a variety of features for all levels, from small jumps for beginners to larger features for advanced riders.
