Perched at an altitude of 2,978m, with the highest ski lift reaching 3,069m, Diavolezza is a hidden gem in the Engadine valley. Known for its stunning views of the Bernina Range, Diavolezza offers a relatively undiscovered ski experience that is both challenging and rewarding.

Built in the 1960s, this unique, remote resort offers a choice of cosy, mountain-style accommodation, with options ranging from the charming Diavolezza Mountain Lodge to the luxurious Berghaus Diavolezza. Given its high altitude, Diavolezza is a snow-sure resort, making it a good choice throughout the ski season, which typically runs from late October to late May.

Skiing in Diavolezza

Diavolezza is a skier’s paradise, offering a variety of terrain that caters to all abilities. The resort boasts two main ski lift options; the Diavolezza cable car and the Lagalb cable car. Combined, they provide access to over 20km of pisted terrain and a vertical drop of almost 1,000m.

Beginners can try their hand at the gentle slopes near the foot of the Diavolezza cable car, while intermediate skiers can enjoy the wide range of blue and red runs that wind down the mountainside. For advanced skiers, Diavolezza offers the challenging Morteratsch glacier run, a 10km descent that’s considered one of the most beautiful ski runs in the world.

Freeride skiing is also a major draw in Diavolezza, with a plethora of off-piste skiing opportunities available. The region is renowned for its freeride tours, such as the classic Diavolezza – Morteratsch route, which takes skiers through untouched powder fields and picturesque alpine scenery.

How to Get to Diavolezza

The quickest way to get to Diavolezza from the UK is to fly to Zurich Airport, which is a 3h30m drive from the resort. Other nearby airports include Milan Malpensa Airport (3h40m) and Munich Airport (4h). If you’re travelling by train, the nearest station is Morteratsch, a short bus ride from the resort.
