Aprica Resort Overview
Located in the heart of the Lombardy region, Aprica presents a charming and authentic Italian ski resort. The village sits at 1,181m, with the highest ski lift stretching up to 2,300m. The resort is perched on a sunny plateau, and serves as a gateway to the expansive ski area that provides 50km of diverse, skiable terrain.
Established in the 1930s, the resort offers a mix of traditional and modern ski-in-ski-out style accommodation, including everything from cosy B&Bs to high-end hotels. Aprica is known for its reliable snow coverage and prolonged ski season, typically running from early December to late April.
Skiing in Aprica
Aprica guarantees excellent skiing for skiers of all abilities. The resort provides three lift pass options; a beginner’s ski pass which allows novices to gain confidence on gentle slopes accessible via six lifts, an Aprica-only ski pass, which grants access to the 16 lifts in Aprica and over 50km of pistes, and finally the Valmalenco ski pass, which offers an expanded 80km of pisted terrain to explore.
Aprica is particularly suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers, with numerous wide slopes offering an ideal learning ground. For the more advanced skiers, the Baradello area provides challenging black runs and off-piste opportunities.
Aprica also has a reputation for freestyle skiing and snowboarding. The Aprica Snowpark, located on the Baradello slope, is a favourite amongst freestyle enthusiasts. The park is equipped with a mix of jumps, rails and boxes designed for varying skill levels.

Aprica is an excellent ski resort for families, offering a safe and relaxed environment. The pedestrianised village centre adds to the sense of tranquillity, and there’s a range of ski-in-ski-out accommodation options, including self-catering apartments. Aprica boasts a variety of excellent eateries, both on and off the slopes. In the village, Ristorante Pizzeria Albergo Derby is known for its authentic Italian pizzas, while Ristorante Miralago offers stunning lake views alongside its traditional Lombard cuisine. For those on the slopes, the Rifugio Valtellina provides a cosy retreat with hearty mountain dishes and a sun-soaked terrace.
How to Get to Aprica
The quickest way to get to Aprica from the UK is to fly to Orio Al Serio Airport in Bergamo, which is a 2h transfer from Aprica. Other nearby airports include Linate Airport in Milan (2h30m), and Malpensa Airport also in Milan (3h). If you prefer to travel by train, the closest station is Tirano, with a travel time of approximately 30 minutes to the resort.
